Beer Excellent to Each Other

Seth and Ray most certainly put on an excellent adventure.  Great manifest, amazing turnout, tasty weather, and nice schwag at the after party. 

 I used a new strategy for this race, which netted me a nice 75th place finish (out of almost 90...).  I picked my commuter bike, complete with rack and double panniers packed to the brim with ice and frosty PBR, lots of smokes and a sit-down bullshit session every 2 or 3 stops.  The long haul out to L13 was a perfect stretch to have other riders dip into the bags and pass beers around to all.  By the time I hit the after party, it was all I could do to shovel in a couple of burgers (MOST of the way done) and finish a cup of Kevin's Kolsch before pedal-stumbling home and trying to start a fight with a minivan.  (Not even the dudes IN the van, no, the van itself).  Goddamn good job, fellas!  Start working on the next race! 

 I talked to my friend Jake from the Ram brewery and he says he has a good ride and wants to put it on sometime in early December.  All I know so far is the tentative name:  Magic Moustache Ride.  I'll post more as it develops.

Thought you would like to see what I looked like so I put a current photo of myself up. (I have lost 8 lbs. since I started drinking Mona Vie! )

That being said, I wanted to say how excited I am to ride this most excellent adventure on Saturday. I know nothing about it except that I need to be at Kathryn Albertson Park before 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 6.

My two cents worth would be to bring a camera/camcorder and take lots of pictures/videos so that you can send them to me later. I have found that I need lots of help in the documentation department. (The drink tends to ruin my concentration, and by the drink I DON'T mean Mona Vie, that shit is fucking MAGIC!)


Also, don't be afraid to dress up like your favorite historical character. I know our hosts (Seth and Ray) would approve most righteously if we did. I think I might go as Thomas Holmes (no not John Holmes you gutter-head) the "father of American Embalming". We will see though. It will be very tempting to dress up as Patrick Swayze as Reagan in "Point Break" cuz that movie kicks ass!

Giving it up

Getting ready for this weekend's Tour de Fat right now.  I have committed to give away a car in exchange for a bike, with full intentions of being a lower-impact commuter type of human being.  Come down and lend me some familiar faces while I (more than likely) put my foot in my mouth up on stage.  I am cleaning out the garage of most of my project bikes to donate to the BBP in exchange for beer tokens, to amass plenty of liquid courage for my trip up on stage.  Hopefully I will remember to plug Seth and Ray's Alleycat race on Sept. 6, though I can see the storm clouds on the horizon of this impending hangover, and will be lucky to escape with my star-spangled tights free of urine.  See you all there!  Brook

Bikes and Rec Presents... Seth and Ray's Excellent Adventure

Seth and myself, Ray, are the newest counterparts to Bikes and Rec. With a some nurturing guidance from Brook and Bart we have begun to get the ball rolling on our first alley cat adventure. We hope you'll be able to get out and join us.
